Eternal Security

Is it possible for redeemed people to lose their salvation?

The Bible says no. One who is saved "hath everlasting life, and . . . is passed from death unto life" (John 5:24). Eternal life by definition cannot be temporary. It is the present possession of all those who have truly trusted Christ. Romans 8:28-39 reveals clearly that there is nothing in the universe that can separate the elect from the love of God. The One who chose to save you "is able to keep you from falling, and to present you faultless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy " (Jude 24).

According to Scripture, people who profess to know Christ at one time but later deny Him were never really saved to begin with. 1 John 2:19 says, "They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us."

A true believer will never depart from the faith (Philippians 1:6), so those who do so are revealing that they were never truly saved (John 8:31; Hebrews 3:14).
Even true Christians can sin, however, and because of that may lack assurance of salvation (Psalm 51:12). A failure to grow spiritually can also rob us of the confidence that we are God's children (2 Peter 1:9). But anyone indwelt by the Holy Spirit is secure eternally, because He is the " earnest of our inheritance " (Ephesians 1:14).

1 Peter 1:5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Romans 8:38,39  For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

1 John 5:13  These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

People who claim to be Christians and believe they can be saved one day and lost the next do not understand the first point of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

They say, "Oh no, you can't have everlasting life, you might lose your salvation."
If you have everlasting life that God has given you in John 3:16 you cannot lose your salvation. If you don't have everlasting life you haven't believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, you're lost. If a person says they can lose their salvation, their eternal life, I believe they may be as lost as lost can be, they're probably on their way to hell and don't even know it.

If you believe you can be saved today and lost tomorrow, why, you may die on the day you're lost. You'll be fearful all your life. God doesn't want you to be afraid all your life wondering if you're going to be saved or not.  Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

Romans 8:30  Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

"For I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day" (2 Timothy 1:12b).
